Unless one want's to read all the code in the github repo before using it. I'm sure this is brilliant and useful and all but it is not what it claims to be and is a security hazard. Then when you have that "not factory" OS image installed it claims to be able to reinstate it back to that "not factory" condition if something goes wrong. Certainly not one from the Raspberry Pi OS "factory". So basically it is setting Raspberry Pi Operating System to the point it was when initially booted ?įirst it gets you to create an SD card image which it builds. I would appreciate if you take some time out and genuinely go through the work rather than blatantly blasting around. Had you gone through the scripts you would know what it is doing. You are not starting with Raspberry Pi OS and ending up with something else. Can you read the description again ? Holy god ! Without retaining a copy of the original image, how are you going to restore it ? out of thin air ? The scripts create a partition to house the original copy and a partition to house the active image. The steps on the git are a step by step procedure to generate your own image which has an option to factory reset. No way am I installing an operating system from any place I have no reason to trust.Ĭlearly you are in a haste to comment without understanding as to what those scripts are doing. Now, most likely you have no bad intentions but this is a security issue. Is not reinstalling Raspberry Pi OS as it came from the Raspberry Pi OS factory. All the rest of my Pis were purchased as just the boards, with some orders including various other bits, usually limited to PSUs and cases, and for Pi4Bs, microHDMI cables or adapters.Ĭode: Select all /boot/factory_reset -reset In my 8+ years of buying Pis, I have bought kits exactly twice, and those for specific reasons that don't generally apply. I'm sure that most retail vendors would be delighted if most Pis were sold as kits, but I doubt it's true there, either. Since we are reliably informed that about half of all Pis are sold for industrial/commercial/embedded purposes, I would argue that "most" Pis are NOT sold as part of kits. I would say that most Pis (outside of the "educational market") are sold as part of some sort of "kit" - and the kit will come with power supply, other necessary doodles, and an SD card with an OS (usually NOOBS - spare me the comments to the effect that NOOBS isn't an OS - you know what I mean - please). ![]() I know what you mean and, in theory (and "on paper"), what you say is correct, the fact of the matter is that in real life, it is false. Indeed they don't even come with a SD card or whatever that might have an OS installed. Raspberry Pi do not come with Raspberry Pi OS or any other OS installed. ![]()
