1/2/2024 0 Comments Public slipways cornwall![]() ![]() The countryside on the Polruan / Bodinnick side of the river is lovely and there are many quiet country lanes to explore provided you are fit enough to deal with the frequent steep climbs.įor all but the fittest of cyclists, I would strongly recommend using an E-Bike to “flatten” some of the steeper climbs but believe me when I say that good fitness will still be required. The Bodinnick Ferry is less than a mile down the road from us and is incorporated into the Cicerone LEJOG / JOGLE route. The final option for cyclists is to cross the river. I never cycle along the A3082 preferring instead the slightly longer but slightly safer B3269. This is less busy but it is still very narrow and winding in places. There is also a punishing climb up Polmear Hill.Ī safer option would be to use the B3269. It may be the most direct route to Par but the road is very busy, too narrow and too winding for motorists to pass cyclists safely. This is included on the first stage of the popular Cicerone guide to cycling Lands End to John O’Groats (LEJOG), or the last stage of JOGLE if your travelling north to south. There are only three road options to and from the town. The coastline limits options for cycling directly from the site as does the river. There are hundreds of miles of quiet country lanes to explore however the terrain can be punishing!
